ADVOCACY TOOL ACTION PLAN 2019 – 2022
Khawaja Sira Society realized the need to institute an advocacy tool action plan to direct its operations during the implementation of Tran’s protection act 2018. With the conclusion of the Transgender protection act 2018 approaching in 2017-2018, having no prior experience in implementing any Act/Legislation guided projects, KSS initiated a process of developing a medium term two to three year advocacy tool action plan to provide a road map to implement the advocacy activities.
Advocacy
Pakistan is the second largest Islamic state in the world. Islam has given equal rights to everyone. Through electronic and print media, we found that being an Islamic state; still transgender are neglected by the government and the local society. Transgender are marginalized and stigmatized community. We are creating enabling environment for them by doing advocacy with all relevant stakeholders to protect their human rights, sexual and reproductive health rights. We drafted the transgender person protection bill in the parliament of Pakistan and now working on the provincial policy to implement the act at provincial level
Advocacy For Maintaining Safe Spae
FINANCE MANAGER at Khawaja Sira Society conducted a session at Beacon House School System for Girls Johar Town Campus on Global Dignity Day sharing her life journey towards success and the Challenges and hurdles she faced during her struggle.
Importance of having a Safe Space and maintaining your self respect and dignity are the major topics that were discussed
Advocacy Meeting with AIOU
KSS believe in making alliance by doing advocacy with key stakeholder to open up space for community to ensure the accessibility of human rights.
We also had a valuable meeting with regional director Allama Iqbal Open University-Official and with deputy regional director they offered to provide free education to transgender community from Matric till PHD and they are willing to make this opportunity accessible by reducing the barrier.
Soon educational rights will be easily accessible for community.
Advocacy With Youth Parliament Punjab
Youth Parliament Punjab Cabinet delegation officials visited Khawaja Sira society where director programme Mahnoor Chauhdry informed the officials of Youth Parliament Punjab about activities of society.
From now onwards, YP Punjab Cabinet in collaboration with KSS and will conduct different seminars & conferences for right of transgenders. They will also launch campaign to make people aware of rights and status of transgenders in the society.
